So I got this question from someone I know earlier, and decided to just post it here to share with you guys too. Q: IJN had so many submarines but why are there only so few in the game? A: While IJN had many subs, the selection criteria of the game takes into account their major achievements. Each of the current subs has something to share. 58 - Survived until wars end and sunk USS Indianapolis, the CA that delivered the atomic bomb, on its way back 168 - Sunk USS Yorktown at Midway 19 - With a single torpedo salvo (6 torpedoes), sunk USS Wasp at 1km. For the remaining 3, 1 missed, 1 hit USS OBrien (DD-415) at 10km mark, and another USS North Carolina (BB-55), sinking the former and badly damaging the latter. Of course OBrien and North Carolina were hit unexpectedly. 19 did not learn that this had happened until way after the war ended in 1980s. This one salvo is the most damaging in history. 8 - Traveled to the Germany-occupied France and completed a technology exchange mission 401 - Largest submarine ever built by IJN (and also in the world at that time). It was meant to carry out a special attack on the Panama Canal, but the war ended before that could take place. And for Maruyu...she saluted Yamato on her way out to the final suicide mission and got drenched by her waves Yeah, apparently saluting Yamato was quite a feat.
