So I had a dream I was on my death bed, writing my will for my son. A bit odd since I am yet to sire one, but nevertheless I shall share it with you lovely people. Here is what I managed to remember from it. Salam from a heart enshrouded with love for Ali (as), My beloved, they say may all your dreams but one come true. A saying I strongly disagreed with. Its underlying philosophy deeply rooted in capitalistic ideals that our life should be about the next big thing. Son, life isnt about rapid change or chasing dreams that may or may never materialize. Life is about the here and now. Enjoy it with your loved ones and family and let Allah take care of your tomorrow. You have nothing to fear or lose so long as you do not disobey Him. Chasing dreams often means abandoning your duty towards your dearest and nearest while chasing self glory, ambition and fame. So heres my little prayer for you that I send to the heavens silently hoping it reaches the gates of Paradise before my soul. May all your dreams come true in a twinkling of an eye so that you may wake up from the sleep we call life. May you wake up and realize that true wealth is not in the number of bank accounts, cars or houses you own. It is the number of true friends you keep. Unfortunate is one who passed life without true friends and more unfortunate is he who had them and lost them due to his actions. Imam Ali (as). Prestige is not in the titles which come before your name. It is the name that comes after your own, your family name. Never forget who you are and where you came from. Never shun away the efforts of your ancestors as if you are more accomplished than they. Be grateful to Allah for He has blessed you with believing parents, adhering to the love of AhlulBayt (as). This alone is the greatest merit anyone can attain, so be sure to cherish it and let it flourish in your heart. It is a trust from Allah and a covenant given to you so be sure to pass it on to the next generation. Keep in mind that success is not only reserved for the doctors who save lives for a living although it is commendable. True success is living to save lives and never expecting anything in return. The best doctors are the friends who make us smile and can heal our hearts when every other surgeon fails. Dont forget this. These are the seeds I have planted in your heart and I hope they blossom so that you can benefit from their fruits. My final advise is that you should water your heart with the love of Mohammed (pbuh) and His Progeny (as) daily. Without them nothing and no one will avail you. Anxiously awaiting you by the gates of Paradise. Under a tree known as Wilayah Ali (as) x
