So I had another person ask me today about my marilyn Monroe tattoo. Why would you get a tattoo of her? Wasnt she a slut and a drug addict? Some people see through such a narrow hole and refuse to see the entire picture. It drives me nuts. I didnt do it to be cliche I did it because I was that little girl who had a rough life from the start. All through school I was the girl who worried about who was watching, who was staring. I was scared of what people were thinking or saying. Today unfortunately Im the girl who looks in the mirror discouraged about my body weight. Embarrassed of my curves. Marylin was strong and confident regardless of what other people thought and said. She was proud to be who she was despite her past and her mistakes. She was beautiful and full of life. She was proud of her curves, comfortable in her skin. On my tattoo the skull represents her ugly past and mistakes. The skull shows how we are all the same on the inside but there are only a rare few of us who truly use their ability to wear their skin with pride. So I see it like this.. If Marilyn, someone who had a rough past. Someone who made more then their fair share of mistakes? could be prideful and confident? Then I sure as hell can do it too.
