So I have been asked before why I cosplay? This is the best way I can answer: Well I have always enjoyed comics, and sci-fi movies, Anime, video games ( especially Halo and Mario Cart!) and horror movies. I enjoy craft and upcycling and have been teaching myself to sew. But I had never dressed up for a convention.I was so anxious about it all, I just thought I shouldnt do it. Honestly because the way my life had flipped around, I didnt even have time or money for conventions for many many many years. When I use to go cosplaying wasnt really a thing, or if there was people it wasnt many. Then one day I was asked by a friend if I would be interested in modeling a costume for his friends at a convention. I said sure let me chat with them. When I found out it was a Harley Quinn inspired costume I nearly jumped out of my skin in excitement. It just grew from there. Different conventions, the Ren Fair and so many amazing new friends I could barely believe it was all real. Now I get the wonderful opportunity to work for some super talented people and collaborate on costuming pieces. So from here usually the following questions are asked, or something along these lines: Well if you like it so much, why dont you do your costume true to the character? The reasons we dont are, that we are creating a version of the character, I dont want to look like everyone one else out there, and I like to believe what if this character was real and there wasnt a spandex shop on every corner. Then I get: Well if you like this stuff, what do you think of this? or this? or this? What do you mean you havent seen it or played it? Must be a faker. No, I very much like these things, but honestly, I dont have the free time to watch anime and game anymore... I would love to spend all my time doing this, but its not an option anymore in my life.... Doesnt mean I dont like still. My love for it has to do with the art of it all. I use to save thousands of images from comics and such onto my computer. I think that answers the questions.... there are many more I have recieved over the past year.... but these seem to be the ones I get the most. :D
