So I have been thinking lately that there is probably only one way out of this education crisis. I just posted this on a discussion thread but thought I would also update my status with my comment to see what others think. Here you go; I like final offer selection to resolve this. That would mean both sides be given 72 hours to write the collective agreement that will govern labour relations in our school system for the next 5 years. They then submit those agreements to Vince Ready to pick ONE - no tweaking, no composite, pick one as is and the other goes in the trash. Whatever side wins would then have sole responsibility for the future and hopefully salvation of our educations system and therefore would be solely accountable to society and its parents. It would amaze you how when negotiators are faced with a situation such as this how many issues that were previously life and death just suddenly get resolved. High risk for game players and high reward for the serious. If you like this idea pass it on with a SHARE - it is not used often but final offer selection is a tool in the tool box. I would be very interested in what my labour expert friend Bill Tieleman thinks of this radical Liberal idea of mine ;-)
