So I just found out my nephews teacher has puts in referrals for a teachers aide for him all the time (as he is a little rough around the edges) cos she knows, his mother knows and even I know he needs one, not only for his own sake but for the entire classes sake as he can be disruptive cos hes been diagnosed with ADHD. I have even thought of going to school and sitting in class just so he knows I am there and to give the teachers a break because apparently he doesnt qualify for one this year? In the past, Marlene would take him into the staff room and teach him herself so that he does learn something and so he cannot disrupt the entire class, I know cos I have witnessed it. Even my youngest boy (no longer at Salford) was rough as guts and worse than my nephew but she loved him and exceeded my expectations one would think of any principals job description. The biggest was picking him up and dropping him off home every day for 2 months after he broke his leg. At the moment he is just being sent to the principals office to do his work and this angers me so much as I know what its like to be sent to the principals office, you feel like you are not a part of your class, you feel like a criminal, and you feel like you have done something wrong and grow resentment towards your classmates, teacher and the whole concept of learning encouraging MORE disruptive behaviour!!! I cant see Kevin spending time with these kids who need all the support they can get the same way Marlene did, I have nothing against Kevin in general, but i have the utmost respect for Marlene after everything she has done for me and my kids and think they should Bring Marlene Campbell Back to Salford School. I am going to go into the school on monday and talk to the Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and ask her what the issue is. Some people do the SENCO role out of a genuine care for children with special needs and a drive to have them included in the school system. Then there are the people who do it for the money and want to do as little work as possible!!!
