So I just got out of a training, its a series of trainings I have yet to do again. Its all about Motivational Interviewing, todays piece was supervision and how we help clients etc. So I had to present a case, a particular client I have been working with. This professor/trainer had to sign off on my case plan. He said dont forget to write down your degree, I said I dont have one. He said what! Your so experienced and knowledgable with out a degree. So my point here is a degree does not make you or break you. A college degree does not guarantee a good job and does not automatically give you experience. Ive been in this field since I was 20, thats 13 years. No book, no college is going to teach you how to react, or hold back your tears when a client explains how her newborn baby was taken away from her at birth, when she did not even finish the birthing process!
