So I may be doing a silly thing making a pocket rocket for an indoor space, even though I thought I might be able to insulate the barrel so it doesnt burn out so fast ( 1/2 or so of cob/perlite on bottom and 3 up the sides of the barrel) and put a curve in the chimney so Im saving some heat inside the space and not putting lots of heat into the atmosphere. Test run was awful, though I DIDNT have the feed tube at an appropriate length, it sits maybe 3 above the top of the barrel. Wanted to see how stove performs with a higher feed tube and if I cut it down what happens. So experimentation at work. My feed tube is 4 and chimney pipe is 4ft. I didnt do an amazing job making my holes circular for the pipes, so there certainly is a gap and I wonder how much that effects the poor performance I had too. Gonna cut down the feed tube to sit right above the top of the barrel, and I wonder what taking the insulation out of the barrel will do. Thatll be my next thing to change to test performance. Any feedback is appreciated!
