So I recently came out that Im a partial preterist which means I believe the book of revelation was all about the ending of the Old Mosaic Covenant and temple system so that the New Covenant could fully assume its place. I believe this was fulfilled in AD 70 (40 years after Jesus prophesied about the destruction of the temple) at the fall of Jerusalem by the Roman armies. I am NOT a full preterist in that I believe there are parts of Revelation 20-21 to be literally fulfilled in the Earth - namely the physical return of Jesus in bodily form as promised in Acts 1:11. This means that I DONT believe in the return of a schizophrenic God who will come as a genocidal tyrant to destroy everyone who didnt accept Him and throw them into a torture chamber forever. This is demonic doctrine that is diametrically opposite of the character and nature displayed in the person of Jesus walking and talking while on the Earth. The book of Revelation, as with ALL prophetic writings used allegory (visual pictures to show a point) God is unconditional love, period. Everything must be viewed through that lens as a starting point. I just wanted the reader, the critic, and the curious person to know that I feel quite safe and in good company with my belief. The following is a list of renowned people throughout church history that were preterists. Early Church Fathers: Ignatius of Antioch Justin Martyr Clement of Alexandria Eusebius Irenaeus Origen Athanasius Gregory of Nyssa John Chrysotom Jerome Augustine St. Symeon Reformed Fathers: John Calvin John Wesley Charles Spurgeon Adam Clarke - Famous Methodist Bible Commentator John Gill - Bible Commenator Matthew Henry - Famous Bible Commentator John Lightfoot - Famous Hebrew Commentator Thomas Newton - BIble commentator Modern Fathers: Gordon Fee - Author/theologian N.T.
