So, I see a word today and realize Ive heard it a hundred times and dont know the meaning. What word, you say? Scaramouch. I make a mental note to look it up. But later in the evening, I see it AGAIN! Now, I immediately look it up, as a rare word such as this does not usually occur twice in one evenings reading. For those interested: my first sighting was lyric checking (dont ask me why, but it WAS weather related!) -Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody: I see a little silhouetto of a man Scaramouch, scaramouch will you do the fandango Thunderbolt and lightning very very frightening me Second occurrence was in reading about the movie Princess Bride where I stumble upon a reference to -1952 adventure drama with Janet Leigh and Stewart Granger Scaramouche Youve read through this patiently and now, *drumroll please* the definition: -Scaramouche, is a roguish clown character of the Italian commedia dellarte who wears a black mask and, sometimes, glasses. He entertains the audience by his grimaces and affected language. So now we know.
