So I switched from the iPhone to an Android phone yesterday. After a day on my Xperia Z3 Compact, here are some good news and bad news. Bad news: Its pretty weird. There are so many little things I miss about my iPhone. I miss the interface mainly. I miss the quality of the front-facing camera. I miss sending gifs via iMessage. I miss the apps! I miss a lot of the apps! My sticker apps, my photo-editing apps, my productivity apps, my kickstarter app! Sigh. I know the Google Play store has caught up a bit with Apples App Store but there are just some killer iOS apps that make my every day life so much more convenient and enjoyable. Sayonara for now, iOS apps. Sayonara for now, aluminum unibody. I will miss your unrivalled style and simplicity. The reason I switched to Android is mainly because Ive realized my iPhone has faltered in what it should be – a phone. iOS8 totally screwed up my iPhone 5s. Basic texting has become cumbersome and annoying due to the regular freezes and crashes. Also, after 6 or so generations, Apple still hasnt fixed their battery. The absurdly poor battery life is a constant source of stress in my day-to-day life. How can I use my phone if its threatening to die every 3 hours?! Good news: Enter the Android. My Sony Xperia Z3 Compact has a more reliable battery life and messages app. It has most of the basic apps I need in my day-to-day life. I can download and attach files in my mail. (I still dont get why Apple cant get this basic feature down.) The interface isnt as sleek but at least the features I need to work, work. And the freedom of having battery life that lasts throughout the day is priceless. So sorry, Apple. Sorry my love Jony Ive. Leaving your beautiful iOS apps and sleek hardware design for now. This gen, you guys have lost the balance between style and function. Its affecting my daily life and Ive grown tired of it. So Ill be making friends with the Little Green Robot for now. It is better at being a phone than your pretty iPhone.
