So, I unabashedly love GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. I might venture to say its one of my favorite films since DRIVE, by which i am referring to a film that delivers over and above what one might expect - it takes the basic elements of a certain genre of film and then elevates them via a thorough vision and smart choices in casting, music, camerawork, etc., embracing you in what feels like a fully-realized world. My one question: who would you have cast to voice Rocket? While not detrimental to the film, after two viewings, I feel Bradley Cooper is a nothing ventured, nothing gained piece of casting; hes not trading on or elevating a persona, and some lines kind of fall flat as i can hear Cooper trying to locate the essence of the character. Thus far, my favorite choice Ive heard is from Cristian Iglecias: Danny DeVito. Mine was Stallone, or someone of that ilk... What say you?
