So I was at Magic Mountain gift shop today getting Michaela a $5 - TopicsExpress

So I was at Magic Mountain gift shop today getting Michaela a $5 Harley Quinn cape that she wanted (which she wore to bed), and there was a conversation between a dad and his 4 year old daughter that almost broke my heart. The little girl really liked the Superman size 4 outfit and was telling her dad she wanted that one to wear at home. The dad then started going off on his daughter that she keeps wanting to wear niño/boy clothes and that she cant have a boys outfit and that she should buy the pink/purple Supergirl or wonder woman outfit on the girl rack. The little girl started crying and telling her dad that she liked the blue and red Superman shirt and that was the outfit she wanted. The dad was adamant that she could not have a boys superman outfit despite her being very articulate that she did not care if it was intended for boys and liked that one. It took everything in me to not say something to him, but it isnt my place to impose my views on another parent especially in front of his kid. Still sad that so much of our society has gender expectations associates with things like superheroes and toys. I see the world moving in the right direction, but seeing that conversation between a father and daughter both hurt a bit and at the same time made me proud of the relationship I have with my own daughter.
