So I will be honest and blunt here: I did NOT GET the April artist - TopicsExpress

So I will be honest and blunt here: I did NOT GET the April artist in residence at zion national park which is all honestly left he feeling a little down on myself and my ability, as that would have started today. I decided rather to do two small things instead. I have stocked my night stand with hardcover photo art books previously sequestered in the attic book shelf for no good reason.. Books I need to grab frequently for inspiration. Beautiful rich volumes filled with the sort of inspiration that should be nearby and not shoved in another room. Furthermore, Ive scheduled a full week alone around my birthday in Arizona ( sedona, page, monument valley and briefly Phoenix) strictly for a solo photo trip with minimal agenda. The mountains and sky dont talk back to you, I like to say. I am also ready to go full tilt on my Brimfield Portrait Project in May . Many years ago before moving back east, I took what little money I had, got in the car and drive to New Orleans for the first time, Hasselblad over my shoulder. While I did not get any award winning images, it forced me to approach strangers--- something I use to this day at weddings. I may have had a noleans Hurricane or two in me at the time, but regardless.. The Brimfield project will be two solid day of talking to vendors, and strangers, and asking for their time for a portrait. Once again, Hasselblad loaded with film will be draped over my shoulder. Its success remains to be seen, but is something Im very excited about: I can already SEE THE RESULTS IN MY HEAD. I feel like I know what will end up with. Still, resistance comes into play and the end result can and will vary greatly. But Im ready for the challenge. Im ready for a great personal project. Im ready for something different. ....whos behind me!?......
