So.... Id like to dedicate this one to the gifted and dedicated teachers out there!! I believe that the really dedicated and gifted teachers are limited by standardized tests. Its hard to educate effectively if your only real goal is higher numbers of students passing said tests! The ones praised and promoted, more often than not, only have those higher test numbers but have students who have absolutely no comprehension of subjects theyre required to know to graduate! Ive seen, with my own eyes, gifted teachers passed over for younger, less qualified and certainly less dedicated teachers who spend half their day on their cell phones with friends and boyfriends and planning weddings rather than attending to the needs of their students!! Its disgraceful to the ones who actually give everything to their students up to and including money out of their own pockets for supplies and lunches and other necessities!! Case in point... the wedding planning teacher? Spent an entire elementary recess on her cell phone while one of her students was being drug over rocks, clothes ripped, ridiculed, and bleeding from his head. When another student tried to draw her attention to the goings on, she said she was busy!! We dont need teachers like that, but we have them in the poorer schools especially! Catty women prone to gossip and ass kissing and they get away with it!! When the mother of the bullied boy confronted her AND the principal, the mother was banned from school property! I truly, wholeheartedly believe education MUST be reformed in Texas to give the dedicated and gifted educators the chances they deserve, the funding and resources they deserve, the pay they deserve, AND THE CHANCE TO WORK THEIR MAGIC ON OUR LITTLE SPONGES EAGER TO SOAK UP KNOWLEDGE!!! I see a lot of folks blaming the kids and the parents but never the policies!! You CAN NOT blame kids for the sub par education theyre getting in a lot of places! And no matter how involved a parent may be, we can only be as effective as the teachers were given for our kids. Also, if parents time is stretched thin by inadequate wages and too many kids, how effective can they be either!! I thank teachers for dedicating their lives to such a noble endeavor! Thank you for giving of yourself and your own finances to ensure your students success!! If only the policies would allow you to soar to the highest heights and thereby allowing students to attain those same heights!!
