So Ive been thinking of starting a petition or fundraiser to bring the new Cosmos series into every science classroom in Jacksonville. Possibly even starting a Cosmos Day on November 9th (Carl Sagans Birthday). I firmly believe Cosmos can bridge the gap so many people have when it comes to Science and Mathematics. It would help young students understand the Scientific Method, Evolution, Climate Change, the trials and tribulations science had to take in the face of ignorance and real oppression. I also think its innocent enough to fly under the radar of religious folk. For all they know its just some science TV show that was on FOX for awhile, I dont think creationism has a very firm root in Jacksonvilles culture. Religion, yes, but there isnt a Ken Ham Museum here. I think it would be a real investment, as everyone who has watched it has experienced a huge impact on the way they see their world. You give that to as many students here as you can, in 10 years Jacksonville could look a LOT different.
