So, I’ve had this pain on the left side of my neck. Stiff, achy, and crinky. I first thought, maybe it’s my pillow. Or, maybe I need to adjust my posture. Then I thought... you know who would know? The pain in my neck itself. I’ll ask it! So I got quiet and asked. I had a pen and journal nearby to record whatever insights this pain in the neck had to share with me. Here’s what she said: ****************************** I hurt because you don’t pay attention to me. I’m lonely. I want to be included. I’m your feminine side. Your inner goddess. I want to dance. I want nature. I need to be heard. I need to be taken seriously. I’m actually pissed. I count too and, in fact, your life doesn’t work without me! Make me a priority like you would your own child. Don’t schedule so much. You are scheduling things that push me out. I need time and space to stretch and express. When you feel guilty for giving me time and space, it makes me feel like you don’t really care. Like I’m an obligation you’re “putting up with” verses the queen you honor and bow to. Stop being so mean to me. Schedule space in your calendar. Don’t cram it. Let the time be spacious. Actually label this time in your calendar “spaciousness.” At the beginning of your “spaciousness” time, ask: “What would be the most fun and fulfilling way to experience spaciousness today?” And then let all the rest go. There is no rush. Shoulds and To Do’s are not allowed to crowd the spaciousness time. Just allow, BE, play, have fun, and celebrate what you have created. You can “play business” with it, or indulge in life with it. It’s all allowed. Things may in fact get done, but that will be because you are following inspired PlayWork - if that’s what you choose to do with your spaciousness time - or because you are attracting it with magic. Not because you are creating “forced productivity.” No. This is spaciousness time. Covet your spaciousness in your calendar as if your life and business depend on it - because the life and business you want DO depend on it. Also, do more yoga. Not because you have to or should, but because you get to. It’s play-with-spirit time. Mix up your sleeping postures too… that will help create new neuro pathways and possibilities. This is gonna be good - I promise. I love you. Write that down. ****************************** Wow. Didn’t expect the pain in my neck was actually my inner goddess screaming for my attention. Nor did I expect a full-on monologue dictating specific instructions. But, know what? That was two days ago. And today... my neck feels 95% better. I think it’s time to tend to that extra 5% and go play now.
