So NUT (national union of teachers) have been at the Senydd this - TopicsExpress

So NUT (national union of teachers) have been at the Senydd this week to discuss the appalling finding of the effects the government tests are having on our little ones. Well too little too late you ask me. Three years ago my class piloted some of these tests as did some other schools and as teachers we were asked to write our feedback. At the time I voiced strong concerns of the negative effects such tests would have on 7 year olds and questioned why we were being asked to teach in one way then assess in a totally different way. Clearly asking for our feedback was just a gesture to be seen to be doing the right thing as a year later the tests were implemented and nothing has been changed from the pilot tests! Why are they now so shocked that feedback is that children are crying in stress and some even soiling themselves with fear!! The professionals have been screaming this from the roof tops for ages! They defend themselves by saying parents feedback is positive. Well to all you parents out there who trust their kids teachers judgement and dont want their 7 year olds sitting formal tests then please write to the education minister and inform him!
