So Nemanja matic joins chelsea. Hmmmmn! After making just three appearances for chelsea in 2009, injuries forced him out - thus sending him on loan to chelseas second academy, Vitesse Arnhem! A few decent performances from him caught the eye of benfica! The portugese outfit then demanded that he shld be included in the deal that wld see david luiz move to chelsea for £21m. So, the serbian eventually moved to benfica in what was suppose to be a phenomenal deal for chelsea. He turned out to be a gem for the portugese outfit, playing from deep, sitting in front of the back 4 and orchestrating proceedings in his own way. Was the best player in the portugese league last season, i think! He is young, calm, intelligent, breaks up play intelligently, and he uses both legs quite wel. He was crucial and pivotal in benficas route to the europa league final last term! Matic has grown into a matured, and important player for benfica. His price tag says it all.....but then again, is he needed at chelsea? Maybe or Maybe not! Chelsea has about for defensive midfilders- i.e guys that can play just in front of the back 4. Lampard, essien, ramires, and mikel. Lampard, loyal servant! Bt he has little or nothing to offer the ckub frm next season. Essien, after suffering three consecutive injuries on his knee- he has lost that bite, that sheer energy, that power, and his overall presence in the middle of the park. Mikel, elegant player! Quite creative in respect to the position he plays, while ramires is arguably one of the best box to box midfilders in europe. I feel chelsea are preparing for the future as lampard nd essien wnt stay any further, marc van ginkel can stil learn the ropes! In a nutshell, Nemanja matic might end up bringing sumthng different to the chelsea midfield. Lyk i said, he is calm, intelligent, solid, great workrate, fierce, nd young!
