The more you like a character, it seems, the more in danger that character is of being killed off. (Lori is the exception. We hated her and she still died.) Other shows tend to maintain a certain status quo but on this show, no one is safe (except maybe Rick, Daryl and Carl). Certainly no one in the old guy mentor role is safe! They killed off Dale but had Herschel waiting in the wings. Now Herschel has been killed and there is no apparent mentor archetype in the on deck circle. Help me, Obiwan Kenobi. Youre my only hope! Gotta love tonights mayhem. Theyve been in that prison for one and a half seasons. Thats long enough. Time to put them on the road again. I bet they meet an old guy when the season resumes in February. And the old guy will earn their trust or have some valuable skill and hell join he group. The Father Figure. And that guy will be lucky to make it a full season. If you have grey hair in Ricks group during the Zombie Apocalypse, its kinda like wearing a red shirt on Kirks starship Enterprise.
