So. This is just a stupidly small weird detail Ive noticed for a while now. (Bear with me, this post is going to be pretty long.) Im a fairly obsessive fan of Queen (the band) and I know almost their entire discography off by heart. Theres this song from 1974 called Brighton Rock ( youtube/watch?v=TdUKi3_QntE ) and as youll notice, theres some carnival-y music right at the beginning. A couple of years ago I was interested in finding out what it was, and some searching revealed that it was also used in a song even earlier than that, 1969, in a Euphoria song called Young Miss Pflugg ( youtube/watch?v=Wc-RM9QuaW0 its the first track in the linked video) After searching even more, I found the music. Its called Carnival Midway ( grooveshark/#!/search/song?q=Sound+Effects+Carnival+Midway ) and it seems to be from a collection of sound effects. NOW. The reason Im posting this here is because the same music is in TDC. Right after John opens the yellow double door and later says where the hell am I? right before Youre In The Devils! Carnival! starts. Its in the background and a little shadowed by the other music which is playing simultaneously, and by John speaking sometimes, but Im sure its there. Id recognise it anywhere. Im very sure Im not imagining this. I got really excited initially when I discovered this because of the Queen connection, but I find it pretty interesting that a sound sample that was in use as early as 1969 has managed to survive and be used in 2012. I mean... thats 43 years. Thats a lot of years for a random little sound effect.
