So... Three months ago, after the 2nd term report cards came home, I wanted to try something new to encourage my kids to continue to work hard and stay focused as the lazy days of summer drew closer. I challenged them with an incentive for their efforts- for their grading gift this year, they would receive $10 for every A on their final report card, and $5 for every B. (I also explained that the feeling of achievement they would have would be very rewarding too, however I dont think they heard anything after money lol) Some may call this bribery; however I call it a HUGE SUCCESS!! All three worked very hard this term, and today they learned the true value in working hard to reach their goals; all three very proudly brought home their BEST report cards yet!!! The grand total: 36 As and 4 Bs!!! And even though Im going to have to sell one of my kidneys on the black market to keep up my end of the deal, seeing how confident this little experiment has made each of them feel makes it worth every dollar!!!
