So... a Texas principal was fired for, among other things, her request to have the kids in her school all speak English. This is where I get wary of the rights movement.... Workers were required not to speak to other employees in a language other than English, for security purposes in a former job I had. They could speak to the customers in their native languages when possible, but to converse between staff in something other than English earned you a write up... When businesses require an employee to be bilingual, its because its good business, they want to cater to a broader base of clientele.. I wouldnt cry that I didnt get a job that I cant perform to the needed standards of a company. You should realize that by NOT Being able to perform specific duties, you can harm the company you are working for, losing business, and effectively, your job. Now, what about in schools? This is a place of learning, should children not be learning to converse fluidly in English? Or should schools cater to every group, enabling them to carry on knowing only a language that is not synonymous with the Country they reside in? This would not only be to say, a Spanish speaker, if you cater to any language that is not English, you now have to make provisions for any language spoken by any child in attendance. What do you think? Should America provide teachers who are linguists in each school class ? Or reserve that to language classes such as ESL, Latin, German, and Spanish?
