So... a few days ago i posted about only getting a click when starting after my carb rebuild. Turns out it was a bad battery. -$50 No big deal. Got the battery. Put on new timing belts, rad hoses, thermostat. Adjusted valves and set timing. Hooray! So i try to sync carbs today. Idles at 4k rpm... ? Idle screw is like a quarter of an inch from stop plate. Hmm. Adjusted the linkages... Ah ha! Proceed to vacuum adjustments. Starter pooped. Like... gravel in your pocket sound. So... ordered a new starter. -$200 Keep in mind this is after about $750 on the bike, say... $500 in misc parts and supplies. So for around $1500 i should be on the road... with a month left to ride in the season, maybe more. Im just trying to remember... no payments. Cheap insurance. Next year! Old bikes... gotta love em. Cause youre gonna spend money on em. 81GL1100... soon to be a 2015. Lol
