So a lot of talk already about the casting of Jesse Eisenberg as - TopicsExpress

So a lot of talk already about the casting of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. Much of it has been...well, negative. But allow me to offer an alternative perspective: Lex Luthor has been portrayed by Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey, and most recently, Michael Rosenbaum. While I didnt have a problem with Hackman or even Spacey (dont start!), I truly appreciated Smallvilles Lex Luthor the most. Lex Luthor is a man. He may be a very rich and powerful man with a worldwide empire (LexCorps), but as a young (by the Eisenberg casting) billionaire executive on top of the world, he could absolutely feel threatened by this super man that is clearly otherworldly. I anticipate that the Luthor character will come out and cast a finger of blame at Superman for the near-total destruction of Metropolis (makes sense...you dont spend 40 minutes destroying a city to not have it be a key element in the sequel). And I anticipate Batman to be used as a massive skeptic of Superman. Casting Eisenberg makes a lot of sense, if not for that particular actor, the age range that Zack Snyder is looking for. I expect jealousy to fuel anger which could be used to manipulate citizens into fearing this super man. Meanwhile, the casting of Jeremy Irons as Alfred leads me to believe that Pennyworth will be more like the Batman: Earth One story written by Geoff Johns, where Alfred is a former soldier in the Royal Marines and an overall bad ass. A bit less doting servant and a bit more lifelong mentor. Anyway - these are just some thoughts I had in response to all of the complaints (you know who you are).
