So a while back we had a client come in. The hard drive in the family computer had failed and the machine wouldnt get into Windows. On the hard drive? Photos of the first few years of their childs life. All digital. No backups. The husband was the one who brought it in and being the maintainer of the computer, his wife had basically told him to come home with the photos (Remember, he hadnt done backups!) or dont come home. Luckily for him we were able to recover the photos so he didnt have to sleep on the front step of their house. The downside? The recovery cost of $800 as the drive was completely dead. :( In other similar cases weve managed to get data back from failing devices for under an hours labour. Good backup software is cheap or in some cases free (2brightsparks/download-syncbackfree.html) and automagic backup solutions (USB sticks, external hard drives) are Data loss and recovery can be very expensive. Ask us about solutions. Everything important should be backed up. This goes double if youve got your business data on a computer... Businesses use computers these days, right?
