So, after jury duty I have to say that I am a little disappointed - TopicsExpress

So, after jury duty I have to say that I am a little disappointed by how we are all held hostage by the corporate machine. As an alternate juror, I was dismissed after the case but given the opportunity to stay for the verdict. I opted to do so, and the plaintiff, the victim of a car accident, was awarded the money that was due to her. The jury was dismissed, but as an audience member I was able to see what happened afterwards, when the lawyers wanted it entered into the record that they had already capped the judgment amount, and that would be the amount Geico would be paying. on the way out. I heard the defense attorney say to his client that they knew they wouldnt win, so thats why the capped the judgment. So, essentially, everyones time was wasted by Geico, because even the defendants lawyers knew there was no case against the claim. Rant over, honor to be a part of the process blah blah blah...
