So after watching Miss Universe again (West Coast time slot), Here - TopicsExpress

So after watching Miss Universe again (West Coast time slot), Here are my objective thoughts on Mary Jean Lastimosas non-placement in this years Top Five: 1. It was definitely the evening gown that cost her the top five slot. Plain and simple...in order to place in the top five, one must score at least fifth place in the evening gown competition. This is a fact...I mean why would they have an evening gown competition anyway? The gown was definitely not a looker and did not complement MJs figure in any way. Honestly, the dress was perfect...for a wedding! 2. For a fact, Miss Colombias evening gown was designed by Alfredo Barazza, the same designer of MJs gown. Now, if I were a Colombian designer, wouldnt I give my best design to the Colombian delegate, knowing that she was obviously a front runner the day she won her national pageant? Jan pa lang, talo na tayo! 3. The days of kahit basura pa yan, kaya ko dalhin yan are now gone. As you can see, almost every country stepped up to their game this year with flamboyant, over the top national costumes, and evening gowns...except for a handful...Philippines perhaps? Honestly, I think ALL of the top five finalists gowns were radiant! After a consecutive four year top five finish, is Binibining Pilipinas being complacent? Hopefully not. 4. Indonesia has been consistent placing at the semis for two years now, and India is definitely on its way in reclaiming their 90s glory days. Just a thought: If both of these Asian countries penetrated this year s Top Ten and sasheyed in their gorgeous evening gowns as seen during the preliminaries, wouldnt MJs gown fall flat in comparison? Is it an issue of money, knowing that Indonesia and India are also third world countries? Again, lets not be complacent. Baka malingat lang tayo eh hindi na tayo ang Asias Venezuela! 5. The Philippines is a pageant loving nation and is hungry for their third Miss Universe Crown. To make this dream a reality , all factors must be considered including replacing the National Director. 6. The need for an interpreter if the delegate wishes to speak in Filipino. If the others can do it, why cant we? Next year, a front runner for the Miss Universe-Philippines crown, Janicel Lubina has the total package, Beauty, height and body...although I think she is better in expressing herself by speaking in her native tongue. What do you guys think? 7. I sincerely believe that MJ would have given a much better answer to the final question, had she penetrated the Top 5 and at least merited a 2nd Runner Up position. All of this because of an ugly, ill-fitted dress!
