So... anybody still harbor any illusions about how the rest of the world deals with terrorism vs. how the CIA and our military do? The events in France this morning should be testament of the philosophy that many foreign nations ascribe to regarding terrorists and terrorism: zero tolerance. If you are a terrorist and engage in any sort of violent action against the country and/or its citizens you probably wont need a good lawyer. Or have to worry about paying the ambulance bill. You wont have to wonder about your pension, new tires for your scooter, your mobile phone bill, or what you will wear to the gala after the revolution or jihad succeeds. Why? First, there aint gonna be no gala. And second, even if there were, you aint gonna be round to see it. God (or Allah, if you prefer) forbid you survive that violent action you attempted to carry out, if anybody considers what the CIA interrogations to be torture, then Mr. Terrorist you will absolutely LOVE what the rest of your days will be filled doing. What the CIA did or did not do allegedly will pale in comparison. Waterboarding will look like a day at the beach. SPF 44 good for you? Dont want to risk your health. Youve got to take care of yourself, Mr. Terrorist, because we have a VERY different definition of what that means when it comes to you. You would be lucky if your final destination was Guantanamo. In Russia they call it Gulag. In France, this morning, they call it the Rue Morgue. So... anybody have any questions? We are the most powerful nation in the history of the world. So far... With great power comes great responsibility it is said. The world is a very dangerous place these days. Very dangerous. There is no place to run. No place you can hide. The threat of violence and terrorism knows no boundaries. But thats a double edge sword. If you are a terrorist there is no place to run. No place you can hide. The threat TO violence and terrorism knows no boundaries. Because we have the power. And we have the responsibility.
