So, been scanning through all the posts about folks decorating for Christmas and such and have noticed something: Many folks complain about doing this, or that, or the whole dang thing. Putting up multiple trees, dealing with lights, Santa blew up (one if my favorites), such a chore it wont come down until Feb or later, and any other manner of gripe. I ask, sincerely, if its such a chore and doesnt make you happy to see it every day for the next month or so... why go so hog wild? Thats nowhere near the meaning of the holiday. Your kids, if theyre home, will see the frustration and thinly veiled contempt and take that within them. When you get to the point of being frustrated with the decorations, just stop. Enjoy the simplicity of what you did do. Do only those things which bring a smile to you and your familys face. Its not a competition. If anyone looks down on you because you didnt go all out, they just dont get the reason for the season. Most years here have been just our tree, with very simple decorations, and a wreath on the door. I may put up the Ferris wheel out front, as my daughter loves that one. You know what, though... we enjoy it, we dont have any feelings of being less than in terms of spirit, and our house is still filled with love and smiles. :)
