So earlier someone had made a comment about how being a mother wasnt a job. My response to the post got deleted so I figure I would post it here so if anyone would like to read it here you go: The definition of the word job does not pertain exclusively to that of a paid position. Alternative definitions include A full or part time position and anything a person is expected or obligated to do: duty or responsibility therefore, you best believethat being a mother is a never ending job. Furthermore, it is this type of attitude that perpetuates opression toward the way mothers are viewed. Mothers are damned if they do damned if they dont. If youre just a mom your often considered lazy. If you work and go to school your a bad mom for not being with your kid 24/7. You may not be a mom yet but as women we need to reognize each others jobs and struggles and build each other up not try to define one another in our own experiences and opinions. Mothers should be paid for all of their obligations! We may choose our jobs and those jobs have obligations and we need to applaud each other for fufilling those. Now if you wanna apply this comment to ratchet mothers thats one thing but do not define motherhood in general as not being a job. Is it a blessing? ABSOLUTELY. But is it work? You best believe it is! I hope if your a mom one day you see this perspective. Children are a blessing but it is very stressful yet society seems to think admitting that is taboo. So to all the full time mothers out there be proud of your occupation I applaud you and to those who arent mothers, cant be mothers or dont want to be mothers, I recoginze and applaud you too.
