So far Ive been having a wonderful time. Its has been fantastic reconnecting with old friends and making some wonderful new ones. But guys, the DJ at the dance tonight was rather disappointing. He was playing such tired music that no one would dance until they were finally drunk enough and figured they pretty much had to make due with the junk he was playing. I requested some current trance/rave musice like Deadmou5, Sphongle, or Infected Mushroom. He replied that was good to know but he wanted to build up to it so as not to scare off the crowd. What? We paid $10 to be here and, with most of us staying in this hotel, we are not going to bail to another club a few blocks down when we can get trashed here and not have to drive to our beds. The audience is captive so experiment until you find the music that gets the best response and then hit that again and again. But no. In the two hours I was there, he played on tune I felt was kickin enough to take to the dancefloor over. Otherwise, it was Human League and ooooold Madonna disco/drag queen crap. I guess I was hoping for a more sophisticated Bare-acuda trance and electronica DJ but was left dejected with some 80s dico nut. Oh, well. I bailed at midnight to my room to watch Netflix for a while before crashing. Will seriously reconsider selecting the dance activity for future Fiestas. Ill want to know the DJ and the type of music he or she plays before paying for it. But thanks for your effort, organizers. My disappointment does not reflect at all on your hard work and the fun I have had outside this one let down. Though it does deminish my experience this year, I have still enjoyed myself. Just wish I could have raved the night away to some kick ass tunes.
