So... female Thor? I love Thor, Frog of Thunder and can accept that Beta Ray Bill is awesome but I find it strange how those are so readily accepted & elicit nostalgia in many comic book readers yet the announcements of a female Thor have already caused some backlash and harsh comments towards Marvel rife with fears of pandering to female readers, being too politically correct, destroying integral characters and/or taking feminism too far. Its as though some readers have forgotten how often characters change, grow, lose their memory, become werewolves, turn out to be brainwashed aliens, die, come back, get thrown into another reality, get retconned and so on. Hell, theres even been a female Iron Man in (at least) one alternate universe that married Capt. America.
