So finally, after reading lots of conversations and discussions in various communities here, I saw Haider yesterday. We have to accept that haider is not a documentary about Kashmir, it’s a film. This is a story of a local Kashmir Muslim, what happens to him, his family and how he takes revenge? There is no point of Kashmir Pandits in it. The director has tried his best to restrict himself from any dialogue on KP’s but then they were a big part of turmoil at that time, so twice, he had to. But personally there is no point of boycotting it or banning it. Of course the havoc created at that time is too deep and complex that 3 hours would be very less to depict that. So let’s see haider as one of the story from the valley without touching our sentiments from the motherland and expecting personal and religious satisfaction. We have millions of stories in Kashmir, for both Hindus and Muslims. Out of them he picked a story about ‘Haider’. That story fascinated him as it fascinated other people, including me. We need to understand that vishal bharadhwaj is not a politician; he is a film maker, a story teller. The detailing in the film was incredible. The control and use of extras in the film was very nice. However he ‘could’ have avoided using that devil thing at martand mandir space....
