So, for those who are unaware, today was a dark day for those in the group. Our battle with the hotel forces was a standoff, resulting in us getting the worst possible room assignment to date. This evening Dani Ward, Matthew Donnelly, Jacq, Britanny Lynn Lewis, and myself held an emergency meeting to decide what will be the next course of action. Our hotel relies on a shuttle, and the shuttle is 50 per person, and you have to book your shuttle times. Talking with Goons/Redditors/Genconners who used it, its late, crowded, and you do risk being unable to get to even get on for going back. After some discussion, we have decided this year we are going to dump the hotel rooms, and carpool from our place. So, what is the plan? 1) We will be tallying who all will be staying here and joining in the carpool fun. If you wish to stay with us at our place, I need to know by FEBRUARY 1st! 2) Right now we are planning on renting a mini van for the weekend, from Wednesday night til Monday morning. Matthew Donnelly has offered to allow us to use his SUV so we have two vehicles to get from here to there. 3) This means we will have two ways to get to and from, one for the early bird, and one for those who have events running til midnight - 1 AM. To determine what time our early and late cars needs to leave, we will have a meeting before the con to determine how late certain people are going to be out. Well, this is kind of bullshit and we know that, but there are some great boons: 1) SUPER CHEAPER PER PERSON. Instead of 224 per person, we will need between 50 - 100. This will cover the gas, parking, and renting of the vehicle, as well as gas and parking for Matts vehicle for being a good chap and driving a group. I will have the official total on February 1st but right now with the minimum people who would be staying here at our house all weekend and joining the carpool I estimate about 75 a person. Realistically, I image 50 - 60 a person. 2) We can have good breakfasts, cheaper booze, and a more controlled environment to play games and have fun. Here, we can have multiple games running without two separate rooms. If you wanna drink until you get mad and want to go home via cab and worry everyone, go ahead! SHIT, if people get home soon enough, we can have good dinners! 3) All of us under one roof for fun, without is being super cramped. This might sound stupid, but I enjoy Gencon more for the friends. Last year I was unhappy with two rooms only because we barely seen one another between the two rooms. So, I need to know the following!!!!! ~WHO IS GOING TO GO INTO THE CARPOOL????? ~WHO WILL STAY AT OUR PLACE ALL WEEKEND? IF YOU WANT TO CARPOOL, YOU BETTER STAY HERE OR LIVE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD (LITERALLY) If you have any further concerns, please let me know or post here. Also mega thanks to those who helped with a room today! EDIT: Wednesday night we plan on car pooling down there, getting our badges, and going somewhere to eat!
