So for those who care (and those who dont) here is a very brief summary of how the Chase Walk went for the Southampton teams this year: The Southampton Speeders: Peter, Tom, Iain, Joe and Ross all completed the walk in a time of 9 hours and 53 minutes, which, by my maths is the 2nd fastest time achieved by an SUHC team. They won The Boot Trophy, which is awarded to the fastest team in the 18-24 age bracket. They were also the 2nd fastest team overall, so theres still room for improvement. The Southampton Sloths: James, Longtao, Emilie, Tristan, Tom and Jinks all completed the walk in a time of 10 hours and 44 minutes. They were the 2nd fastest mixed team, the 3rd fastest team in the 25+ age bracket and the 4th fastest team overall. It is worth noting that despite the superhuman effort the Sloths put in, they were bested by a team led by a 70 year old man. A 70 year old. For shame. It was a really great weekend and even if some members of the team never fully regain full use of their legs, you shouldnt let that put you off getting involved next year.
