So for todays Talk of the Town we have some very interesting information. 1. With armed guards in tow, it has been said that our superintendent Milton Kuykendall stated he has decided to run again for superintendent thanks to me. While I am touched that I could have that much influence over him if it is true, I am in no way moved one way or the other by this news. In everything I do, I expect and plan for the worst, but I pray, organize and work towards the best! Whatever he thinks he needs to do for him and his cohorts, I say go for it. We all got to do what he have to do. The only thing that concerned me about the talk was, WHO IS PAYING FOR THESE ARMED GUARDS? Why are we paying for him to have security? Really?! Take that money and give it to the teachers for God sakes! 2. The OBHS girls softball field ground breaking is supposed to be coming up around October 28. So happy for the school to finally get a field for their girls. That is EXCELLENT news! 3. The Desoto County Mayors along with the school district is supposed to be working on a way to bring high speed internet to all citizens. If your children attend DCS, you probably got a flyer sent home about it. What does everyone think about that? 4. So happy that Southaven Elementary School will be getting 8 new classrooms added on to it!! Such great news. I think they were the only school left that still used or uses portables or trailers. I know those students and teachers are super excited about it! 5. In politics, the talk is that Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann may run for Thad Cochrans U.S. Senate seat if he chooses not to run again. The other talk is that Phillip Gunn and Tate Reeves will make a run for the Governor in the next election. What do you all think about this? Of course I am biased about the U.S. Senate seat because I support State Senator Chris McDaniel whole heartedly. Now my question of the day is: Does anyone know about the Ira Kuykendall Scholarship Fund? Ira Kuykendall was Milton Kuykendalls daddy. I have never heard of anyone receiving scholarships on behalf of this fund. I was just curious. You know we like to give credit when credit is due.
