So frustrated! Have I mentioned I HATE IV antibiotics? Well, I do. Yes, I should be grateful because these medications literally save my life over and over again but it isnt at no cost. The constant need of very strong antibiotics, generally several at a time, has taken a big toll on my body. As a result I am very uncomfortable seemingly all the time as I am very prone to infections. I am not exaggerating when I say I am on these antibiotics more than I am not. Its really hard to keep my head up when I not only have to deal with the symptoms of the infection but also have to suffer from the horrible side effects of the treatment that are often even worse. Feeling down and having a teary day and night. I guess thats going to happen - you can only stay strong for so long. To give you all an idea about how awful these side effects are I have included pictures. My gut is already non functional which is why I am dependent upon the TPN or IV nutrition but the antibiotics make it even worse, causing extreme distension, horrible pain, and nausea/vomiting. The first picture shows my body shape not distended from the medications. The pictures that follow, where I literally appear pregnant, demonstrate just how uncomfortable and painful my stomach becomes. It is in my opinion the worst feeling due to the incredibly severe pain combined with the endless nausea. In addition, the high level of eosinophils in my blood also cause me to have increased allergy type reactions to pretty much everything. This causes hot flashes, sweating, redness, itching, and rashes on my face and body. Its hard enough to be chronically ill. Its even harder to be chronically ill and have an infection as well. It is nearly impossible and unbelievably disheartening to be chronically ill and have an infection and then to also have to suffer intense side effects. Please pray for peace of mind. Love you all and with hope always, right? Aly
