So get this; In 1939 an entire Russian battalion (600-ish Troops) broke through a critical Finnish defensive line during the invasion of Finland. All the russian troops needed to do was maintain their momentum and continue the maneuver to envelop the rest of the line. Only, instead the Russian troops suddenly stopped. They had captured an array of Finished field kitchens, That had just recently started cooking enough sausage(soup) for the near 2,000 Finnish troops that were defending that section of the defensive line. See, the Russian forces were horribly under supplied and had been living off of stale bread that they had soaked in melted water flavored by tea packets for weeks in below zero temperatures. So...stopping and having some of this just made hot sausage soup sounded, well, like a pretty damn good idea for them... The delay in the Russian advance due to this allowed the Finnish forces to regroup and amount a successful counter attack that nearly completely destroyed the entire breaching Russian Battalions forces. So, just a simple reminder: People fight and die on their stomachs.
