So heres what it is. A neighbor complained that we were doing work without a permit. But according to the code, everything we are doing does not require a permit. Im going to guess its the neighbor to the west who had ramshackle additions to their multi-family unit all the way up to every property line. They had to remove some structure, and probably thought we reported the code violation and wanted to get us back. Frankly, I dont care, and we didnt report them. So an inspector came by, I explained that it was finished and everything was a replacement of an old hazardous driveway. The inspector told me, since we were not working on the approach, a permit was not required. But requested I bring the plans in to the city later so they could document it. The inspector also recommended that we submit plans for everything we do from now on, even if a permit is not required. Kind of a pre-emptive strike. That will spare them the trouble of coming out for no reason. I can live with that. The inspector was very polite and reasonable. I like this little City of La Habra that we live in.
