So im pushing my neural edge with intermediate modern dance - TopicsExpress

So im pushing my neural edge with intermediate modern dance classes. Because of my general conditioning and movnat skills, none of the actual movements are difficult, what IS difficult is the linking. The coordination and transitioning from one sequence to another, how to organize the body for the next sequence correctly. Because I was so sick since childhood certain mind body actions are very weird for me. Like driving a car and swimming to name 2. I dont know the exact motor control and neuroscience terminolgy for the functions that elude me but they are a combination of balance, left right cross patterns, doing different patterns with the left and right simultaneously, and turning around/changing direction with the correct body part in order to be in the correct position for the next sequence. I have to try very hard to slow it down in my mind, break it down into natural human patterns. Theres a lot of neural noise, especially in dance class where I cant just work on a small part of a sequence super slowly. So I take video so I can practice on my own super slowly. The anat baniel/feldenkrais principles are the guides to how to learn and coordinate movements healthily. Im not in these videos but heres the advanced group doing todays movement sequence. (At joe goode annex taught by marit, tues & thurs 10am-12pm through may $12)
