So-in the aftermath of the Big Bang Theory strike for more pay, I - TopicsExpress

So-in the aftermath of the Big Bang Theory strike for more pay, I have to wonder....why do people seem okay with actors, writers, athletes, etc, striking for increasing an already large salary, but they absolutely hate the idea of teachers doing the same. As a matter of fact, the prevalent them seems to be very anti-teacher union. I dont have a lot of experience with this type of thing since I work in a right to work (really more like right to fire) state. I dont see myself ever walking out of the classroom leaving students stranded-unlike many pro-athletes who walk off their jobs, but why do I feel like Id be the bigger villain just for trying to get a decent wage? Is it because those other individuals are worth so much more? Is it because you think you dont actually have to pay for the actors and athletes? Im curious. I dont want them to not negotiate their contracts, but I wonder why teachers attempting to negotiate contracts is such a horrible thing?
