So it finally happened. Once in a great while, Metra moves my train to a different track. Im usually very observant of this for fear of catching the wrong train to some god-forsaken Chicagoland suburb that is not my own. Today I was running to catch my train, and I did not look up. I didnt even bother looking carefully at the conductors, which really troubles me. No, it wasnt until a half hour later, with the train careening through neighborhoods with manicured lawns and quaint little downtowns, that I noticed signs for the Brookfield Zoo. This is not where I want to be, I thought to myself. This train is going way too fast, in fact. My train is so much slower. There are railroad police on this train. The sun isnt in its right place, for crying out loud. So I am marooned out in the western suburbs on this sunny spring day on my own fault for being completely non-observant about my surroundings. If its not Monday, it is surely Wednesday. The other days of the week dont treat me like this.
