So it is nearly Christmas time, a season of joy, hope, love and peace; yet theres not much of that going around. This is the first Christmas that Im sad. If you know me then you will know that I love this time of year, I light up like a Christmas tree myself, but this year I am so sad. I look at our world, I look at so many Facebook posts and I am so sad. I see so much hatred, racism, attacking Muslims, killings and so much more. I stopped reading posts on the South African Politics Facebook Page because it has turned into a racist and anti Muslim page. Jesus was born at Christmas time, to save us from ourselves. He came to give us peace, hope, love, joy and the wonderful gift of reconciliation. Yet, we fight each other, we dont work for reconciliation, we break each other down. We are not being Christ-like. Jesus welcomed all people. Now we use the Bible and Jesus to justify a genocide in Palestine and to fight each other over religion. Why did Jesus come again?! Im sure Gods heart is breaking as He looks at us, as He see how we destroy each other in His name. Jesus came so that we could be reconciled to God, each other and ourselves BUT guess what check out Corinthians, He also gave US the MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION!! This Christmas, let us see Christ in ALL people, let us stand for justice, for love, peace, joy, hope, reconciliation. Let us follow the example of Jesus Christ. I say this for South Africa, Palestine, Syria, Nigeria, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, I say it for ALL people of ALL faiths. Let us unite as humans and say NO to injustice. A sad Christmas for me as I think of Gaza but especially as I think of all the God fearing people who condone such slaughter of people and justify it with their faith. Our God is a God of love and reconciliation. Let us put CHRIST back into CHRISTmas and celebrate the true meaning of this glorious season - peace, love, joy, hope and reconciliation for ALL people.
