So it seems as if Ive been nominated by Kimberlee A. Cruz to share 3 things Im grateful for over the next 7 days. So, here goes... Day 1: 1. Im grateful for the dozens of doctors, nurses, and social workers who have worked tirelessly to help my mom recover from what has been a major health event. (Shes 77 and has never been really sick before this!) Their kindness, compassion, and patience with her has been a blessing. And their communication with us has been a blessing too. She is currently at rehab working to increase her strength and balance and (hopefully) her independence. 2. I am grateful for my brother Chip Froehlich and my sister Laura Miller who embody the saying when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Mom taught us to be strong and determined, and I am so thankful for the way the three of us can (and do) come together and do what it takes to support mom. Aside from that, I love them just for being them, and I am grateful for the family love. 3. I am grateful for my husband Doug Albert, who puts up with me and all my foibles. He seems to find me delightfully funny, and is patient with me when Im stuck or sad. He graciously and patiently puts up with my lack of culinary interest and expertise, and my disinterest in and slow-moving attention to to most things domestic. He is funny, caring, sensitive, patient, and the love of my life. Hes a gift to me. Thats it for today folks.
