So its TBT ... what shall I post? Heres a post of my parents taken exactly 29 years ago this coming week. I flew home with Mallory to be part of a surprise birthday for my dads 60th birthday party. Of course, our flight was diverted and delayed due to tornadoes and a lightning storm. We ended up in the Sioux City airport (not Sioux Falls where my sister had planned to pick me up) in the early morning hours. There wasnt a hotel room available in the city because of a baseball tournament. An older couple took us home with them (they just picked up my suitcase and said we were coming with them) and then drove us to my parents home after a big breakfast the next morning. My mother is 56 in this photo and my dad is the birthday boy at 60 with Laura Karney on moms knee and Mallory Breitmaier on my dads knee. Behind them are the Haselhoff girls, Sharon, Janet Gibbons and Kris Granville. So what birthday are Mallory and Laura celebrating in the next few months, I wonder?! Ill be heading back to Iowa (no bad weather, please!) this coming week to visit with my brothers and sisters and to see my parents memorial bench on the fairgrounds and the new historical society, which my father helped get off the ground. Theres also the Marcus Fair, the 5K, a beer garden, staying with Patty Sand and seeing many, many of familiar faces. Its been too long!
