So its gonna take us awhile to get over this one... This is about the conga drums shown in the sculpture of Lolita Lip and also photographed in the Caddy book that published our entry. It was given to us by our good friend Rick Diaz in the late 1980s and was with us in every concert we played during the following years until we moved to FL. Ricky (former Asbury Finance Director) also helped us construct LIPMANLAND in Asbury Park along with David Roberts (our keyboardist East side Dave) and Stephen Kay (Asbury City Clerk). We turned the congas into night club cocktail tables with red velour tops draped over them in our bordello room while we were in Florida for 20 years. When we left our big FL house for our tiny Asbury condo we knew we could not fit them so we were forced to put them in consignment and they sold for $100. Yesterday, we were together with Ricky and East side Dave and hadnt seen Ricky in at lease 2 decades. We were discussing him giving us the congas without revealing we had sold them, when he he said ya know theres a story behind them. They belonged to CARLOS SANTANA AND HIS BAND and were SIGNED INSIDE THEM! We didnt want to tell him but had to. Were both sick and expect to be for some time!!! The last thing we said to Ricky yesterday is WHY DID YOU WAIT 20 YEARS TO TELL US THIS STORY!!!
