So, just an update on how things are going. I went to the doctor today and got my cast on! :) Yay! I dont have to go back until Feb 2nd, thank goodness. Only three more weeks to go until the cast comes off. I wanted to go out to the barn today to try to ride, but things didnt work out as much as Id hoped. I think Velvets been traumatized from me falling off. We saddled her up and did groundwork with her today. She did perfect on the ground and while we were saddling her. We lunged her and did the usual groundwork with her, and she was a perfect lady. She let me put the mounting block up next to her, and as I went to put my foot in the stirrup, she pulled away from me and sidestepped very fast. She looked at me and she looked scared. The whites of her eyes were showing. I didnt fall or anything like that, but she didnt want me getting on her. So we started just leaning on her, and stuff like that so she can get used to the feel of having that weight on her again. My hubby took care of that today, and I worked on making her stand. So it looks like Im going to have my work cut out for me when my wrist is all better. Its okay though. I wont give up on her and I have a friend coming to help me this weekend. Hopefully she can ride her while Im healing and until Im ready to try and get in the saddle myself. Hopefully it wont be long. Anyway, just thought you might like to know whats up.
