So, looks like I just spotted a LinkedIn fraud. One of my recent connections (someone Ive never met F2F) just sent me a spammy-sounding email asking me to evaluate a web-based K-12 product for a research report shes required to do for school. Ok. Wants me to check out the website and answer three questions. Seems easy enough. On a whim, I decide to Google her school. No hits. Well, ok, its a private school. Maybe its REALLY private. So, I Google search by image using her headshot and BOOM. Different person, different name. Total hijack, it would seem. This individual has 500+ connections on LinkedIn (including me; I will often accept connections from people Ive not met before.) Pondering next steps. Thoughts? (I am not going to provide any more identifying information...for now.)
