So many Drs in our country. How in the world did a medical doctor (MD) or veterinary doctor (VD) become a doctorate (Dr.) in the language of our people? It is so confusing during casual and/or formal introduction: meet Dr. Wani Igga, and when you venture to inquire where he acquired his PhD, you are cordially informed that the guy did his bachelor degree in medicine/veterinary at Upper Nile university. Oh, so you are not a Dr.? Yes, I am. I am Dr. Wani Igga. And there you wonder whether or not someone is cheating the system. So in Junub Thudan, there is hardly any difference between Dr. Jok Madut with a PhD from the US and Dr. Ammum Nyaba with a bachelor degree from Cavendish University. When you go around asking, you are told it is THE British system, not your complicated American system. It is really complicated, down here, not in the US. Happy weekend Dr. Junubiin.
